David Patience, AICP

David graduated from Minot State University in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He began working at Swenson, Hagen & Co. in 1971 calculating subdivisions and drafting plats and site plans, as well as becoming knowledgeable in subdivision and site plan design. With continued education and testing, David became a Certified Planner (AICP) in 2000. Extensive experience with planning, construction, design and regulations has provided David with the background necessary to become a Land Development Consultant.

David feels a successful project requires the review of physical characteristics of a site and the experience to plan in harmony with these characteristics. His extensive knowledge of development regulations and his ability to effectively meet planning goals make him an extraordinary consultant. In the end, it is his ability to envision the final product, while dealing with all participants patiently and efficiently, that makes him such a tremendous asset to any project.

David has been a principal participant in regional community planning projects, local subdivisions, and individual building sites. SouthPort and Lakewood are among his favorite projects. They are each waterfront projects with a range of uses from commercial to residential.

Away from work, David enjoys golfing with his many friends or spending time with his wife, Colleen on the Missouri River. He is also a car enthusiast. Pictured here is his 1977 Datsun 280Z.  This car was only manufactured as a hatchback. No convertibles were ever manufactured.  David custom built this car with only the doors and the hood remaining stock.
